    Religious Education - Children

St. Peter Religious Education Vision Statement:

As Catholic Christians, we are called to hand down to our children not only the truths of our faith, but also the spirituality that will put them in intimacy with Jesus. Our parish Religious Education Program strives to do this by embracing these children as Jesus would, and in as many ways as possible, encourage family participation in their instruction and faith formation. We see ourselves as a ministry of the whole of St. Peter's Faith Community and strive to create bonds of faith, worship and commitment between us.

Our Church tells us that parent are the primary religious educators of their children. This is accomplished through moral and spiritual teaching, regular attendance at liturgy and frequent reception of the Sacraments of Eucharist and Reconciliation. Parents also model Christian living.

The Religious Education Program at St. Peter's works in partnership with parents and families in this awesome, wonderful, and lifelong "journey into faith." We do this by providing formal religious education and Sacramental instruction. Our R.E. Program follows the curriculum guidelines of the Diocese of Rockford, and conforms to the teachings of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. We are committed to providing quality religious education by competent, certified catechists in a safe environment.

The Religious Education Program is for children of our faith community in grades K-8 who attend public school or who are home schooled. Classes are held on Thursday evenings from 6:15 p.m. until 7:45 p.m. in the school building. Sessions are held from late September until mid-May. Please drop off/pick up students in the back of school and enter through the back door.
