My Dear Friends in Christ,
St. Peter Parish, located on the south side of Aurora, is a small, friendly parish filled with many wonderful, loving and faith-filled people. When I first became pastor of St. Peter Parish in 2002, we adopted the Latin motto “Ut in omnia glorificetur Deus” as the motto for our parish. The English translation of that motto is “That in all things God may be glorified.”
This was not just a new motto introduced by a new pastor, but it was something which this parish has been living on a regular basis. We are indeed fortunate to have many people for whom the Faith is a very living and real identity. Whether in liturgy or social gatherings, the people of St. Peter Parish strive to live out the Gospel message in their lives. We also operate a school (grades K-8) to assure a Catholic education to our children.
While St. Peter Parish is small (we have some 412 registered families), the very size of the parish offers a number of advantages. The first of these is for the members to know one another. This creates an air of friendliness and cooperation. Another obvious advantage of our size is the concern which parishioners show for one another in times of illness, death and crises. In short, the size of our parish gives growth rather than hindrance to God’s love and presence. St. Peter Parish is truly a place where “God may be glorified in all things.”
On behalf of the people of this parish, I would like to take this opportunity to invite all to join us for the celebration of the daily and weekend liturgies at our parish. We welcome all in the spirit of Christian friendship.
Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. George Glover, OSB
